Our Story

Planet Smilez is an international children’s charity that aims to educate children about the importance of healthy oral education. At Planet Smilez, we teach children about proper brushing, flossing and nutrition through interactive hands-on learning and dental based arts and crafts. Each child receives their very own oral health passport to encourage every child to take personal responsibility for their own oral health and foster a healthy lifestyle.

Our First Trip

Dentistry Camp 2017

Our Founder

Kathryn Pawlak is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry with the hope to specialize in pediatric dentistry when she graduates in May of 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2013. During her undergraduate studies, Kathryn did research in molecular biology analyzing pathogenic genes of a particular endophytic bacteria. Her passion for dentistry started as a child when she realized the difficulties accessing progressive dental care globally. Her exposure to immigrant family members suffering greatly due to lack of standard dental care until their naturalization to America, motivated Kathryn to enter the field of dentistry. In her past, Kathryn combined her love for skiing and dentistry to conduct research in the field of dental traumatology. In this study, she analyzed oral trauma in skiing and snowboarding at a ski resort in the Catskill Mountains. During her free time, Kathryn enjoys teaching children how to ski.
